Saving Sol

Sponsor our little ray of sunshine

Found by Es Castell local police after being hit by a car on the main road. He was so badly injured the policemen couldn’t bear to look at him. The Police knocked on Janice’s door at 7:30 am to ask for her help. They surrounded him with road cones and Janice picked him up and took him to the vets.

It was an emergency vet visit and the odds were not looking good as he had severe head injuries. One eye had to be removed and the other was stitched up to heal, and he underwent an operation to repair his palette that had been split in two. It took two months of hospitalisation. The Vet and his nurse named him Sol because they said ‘he is like a little ray of sunshine’. And this is true if you are lucky enough to meet this special fella, you can see he is so happy to be alive.

Sol is now living at home with Janice slowly recovering with  TLC and the help of very expensive recovery food. He eats a lot (2 tins a day).

You can help in the efforts of saving Sol by helping us to raise £1,287 to cover the vet bills and special recovery food.

Thank you for giving me a chance. Your donation will help pay for my enormous vet bill and provide me with that delicious recovery food that is making me healthy and strong. I hope you can come and visit me sometime soon at Janice’s cat cafe. Looking forward to your strokes,
Love Sol

It’s already 9 am and I haven’t reminded people that The Cat Cafe will be opening in two hours time.

We open so that you can come visit The Furries on Fridays and Sundays from 11 to 13.00 at Noria Riera 16 Es Castell.

It’s been really busy the last couple of weeks. So much to do, so little time.
Call outs every single day , sightings of poorly and elderly cats all over our area , which covers the eastern end of the Island.

So if you want your catch up , a “cat fix” please come and meet some of out gang.

We supply the Dreamies , you supply the hands and laps!

We have a small gift shop to help with our expenses, not totally confined to cat related items , we have an amazing collection of greetings cards for all occasions and a lot on sale at 50c and 1 euro.

Look forward to seeing you. No need to book and children of all ages are welcome.

One of the jobs is to try and catch this Tom from Punta Prima, but it’s not easy. He is cared for and fed by Bernardo who has tried to catch him in a trap but to no avail.
He lives behind a hotel so it might be as simple as not being hungry enough. In a hotel with a lot of German and English guests I m guessing that he won’t be going hungry. All those breakfast buffet snacks and so in. No need to wait for Bernardo who like me goes out to feed when it is already dark.
This is because of the seagulls who also wait for us and also some areas, hens.

He has been having difficulty getting one front paw on the ground and it looks seriously inflamed
Bernardo hasn’t seen him for 4 nights so we are getting worried about him.

Meet Simba.
He lives in Es Mitjorn and is cared for by Sally.

He’s been in the wars lately.
He’s been having trouble with a paw for sometime and finally he had an operation last week to have a tumour removed from a tie.
A biopsy was performed and has been sent off for analysis.
His poorly eye was also treated at the same time.
He has a heart of gold so paws crossed for a full recovery.

I’m into grooming. In a sneaky way. Not the combing.

I’ve been trying to catch this clever blue cream cat at the rubbish bins in San Luis for more than a year.

She disappears for weeks at a time.

Now she’s back. I’ve never been able to get her with a trap.
Unfortunately late one very quiet night in the winter I finally had her halfway into the trap when out of nowhere at great speed came a motorbike with a couple of girls on it , shrieking and screaming.
As soon as I heard them I moved to try and scare the cat away but too late she had already jumped, set off the trap when she was half way in. So she got away as the door couldn’t close properly.

I was so fed up. I didn’t see her again for months during which time she had possibly become a Mother again.
There are sometimes kittens around there , often just a lone one, which might have been dumped or might be down to her c

Anyway she’s been back now for a week or so and we are becoming friends. I can touch the back of her neck and every night that she comes she gets a nice tin of food whilst I stroke her.
I feel that I will have to be able to get her by the scruff of the neck. I think when she sees a trap she’ll be off. Maybe even with a cage she’ll go.
Softly softly.
